The plastic security facade outside the latest former world’s tallest tower was hurriedly being papered over with a holographic poster advertising its new usurper. No one noticed the record change hands. How could you even keep track anymore?

It’s not like it mattered anyway, Mars and Titan and Europa and Ganymede had taller structures in both total length and prominence by far.

The outer reaches, littered with the eccentric cult worlds of the once-gods who long ago abandoned our homeworld, leaked and dripped with hushed whispers of still greater machinations brought about by generations of slavery and horror. Who knew what craftwork lay on the shining marbles at the galaxy’s fringes?
